After trailing Armenian GM Danielian for the entire tournament, Humpy Koneru scored 5.5/6 after the break to win the 2011 Doha Grand Prix on tiebreaks! It is an amazing clutch performance, especially when only 3 players out of 12 have plus scores.
As the chair of the FIDE Commission for Women’s Chess, I would like to congratulate Humpy for this very important performance of her career and to Elina for her impressive results.
I would also like to thank the organizer, sponsors, and all the people behind the scene for putting together a magnificent women’s event!

Fantastic job by Humpy. Nice.
Congrats Humpy for qualifying to challenge Hou Yifan for the Women’s World Chess Championship 2011 title , gutsy performance

Now good job.

I had predicted this immediately after the third round. Go and crush Hou Yifan. The match can be characterized like following.
Chinese champion supported fully by her federation Vs Indian challenger with disciplinary threats from her federation
Step off, I’m doing the Hump!
I am thrilled that GM Koneru Humpy has won this Grand Prix and has won the right to the match against current Women’s World Chess Champion GM Hou Yifan. I have followed Koneru’s career for many years. I also appreciated GM Polgar’s comments about Koneru’s performance in this event, it certainly put things in perspective. I do hope the match will go forward — I haven’t seen any news of it at the FIDE website.
