After defeating Yifan to take over clear first, Zhao Xue lost back to back games to plunge to 4th place. Yifan was not the same after that loss and she could not score the needed win in the final round. Humpy played steady down the stretch to give herself a chance to win the title. Thanks to the help from Sebag in the final round, she clinched clear first. Danielian came on strong at the end and surged to a tie for 2nd with a win over the co-leader Zhao Xue in the final round. She also earned a GM norm. This is a great comeback and nice performance by Humpy!

Chess Daily News from Susan Polgar
Congratulations, Humpy! I always knew you would do it.
Humpy becomes a male? “he clinched clear first” 🙂
Congratulations Humpy. Kudos to getting stronger and better after your loss to Yifan. Yifan on the other hand after losing was just not the same.
I think the tournament thoroughly tested every player and Humpy is deservingly the BEST.
Congratulations to Humpy ! A player underrated is Elina Danielian.
Susan looks dissappointed for Humpy win.
It is just my opinion after reading couple of time.
Congrats Humpy!!!
Shouldn’t Martha’s win over Cramling give her 1 Koya point instead of the 1/2 that’s listed?
So what are Koya points?
Great comeback win for Humpy!. Congratulations. However she must get the Hou ‘bear’ off her back.

The bear will grow bigger and in a few years she will not have a chance to win against Hou, that’s my opion. Humpy is about at her peak while Hou’s peak will be over 2700.
‘Thanks to help from Seebag she (Humpy) clinched clear first’
c’mon! That’s just it isn’t it? The first one to blink loses! These are humans playing – not Rybka vs Fritz!
Give Humpy her due Susan.
I would say Humpy this time has a bit lucky. In the last two rounds, her opponents played really very bad. But anyway, congrats!
Koya points are your point total vs. players 50% or better.
It is weird that people say she won because of others mistake but ignore when she made mistakes to lose or draw winning positions. It is a two way street and deservedly won by Humpy. Way to go!!
Susan seems dissapointed…dont know why.

Stop talking nonsense, please ! Susan has been one of the most vocal admirers of Humpy, in all pubic fora
yes, yes…! Susan’s site is very impartial and well balanced. She gives ample credit for the deserving ones… She is truly promoting chess the best way and is an icon for all of us…it is just plain non-sense to comment this way on that ‘title’. The write up itself is accolade for Humpy. Cheers..!!
