Congratulations to Alexandra Kosteniuk, the new Women’s World Champion!
Congrats Kosteniuk.
Congratulations!
Althought Yifan is my compatriot, but Alexandria desrved the win. She did a great job in this tournament. She has done so much to promote the chess. She is a real Queen!
Thank you so much, Susan! Your commentary is so good. We really enjoyed it. You are great Champion!
I was rooting for Yifan but I guess she will be Women World Champ next year.
Good win of Kosteniuk, although Hou wasn’t walked over at all. She held most of her bad positions, which made me/us curious what would have happened if she would have had better positions from her openings! Hou’s time for no 1 will come, but no 2 is very good for now!!
Congratulations to Alexandra!!!
Susan, do you know how many rating points will have Kosteniuk and Hou after this WWC?
Very good games analysis, congrats to you too!!
It is time for Kosti to join world top chess, not just woman’s chess. I expect her to compete in “general category” tournaments, with men. The goal must be the top-100. Humpy is her first competition.
Woman’s chess was invisible for too long.
Susan and Judit Polgar were the first two women to break the top 100 overall. Can Humpy, Yifan and other follow their footsteps?
Was Susan Polgar in the top-100 once? I am not aware of it. Sofia Polgar scored a great 2900+ performance once, but I don’t know if her official FIDE Elo ever was in the top-100.
Please provide links for these top-100 ratings if available.
Nevertheless, I think the natural goal for the young strong womans in chess is the top-100, and I wish them the very best. It is really necessary to achieve the gender balance in chess, or we will always run at 50% only. The woman need to catch up! The men around them should support them as good as they can.
Judit was the only woman to break the top 10. Susan and Judit were the only 2 to break the top 100. I think Susan’s highest ranking was in the 60’s back in the early 90’s and Judit’s highest ranking was #8. Susan was also the #1 junior under 21 on both the boys and girls list. Not sure if Judit did the same thing.
There is no link. Just go back to the old informants. All the ratings are in there. Anon 3:55 is correct.
