The 2005 European Women’s Champion (tied for first with Nadezhda Kosintseva) is 16. She is from Lvov (Ukraine) but has spent most of her life in the industrial and chess-friendly town of Kramatorsk. She recently moved to Donetsk where the Ukraine company Danko is sponsoring her. Lahno is currently ranked 7th in the world with a rating of 2509. Many consider Lahno as a future Women’s World Champion. If she continues to work hard on her game, she has the potential to be a very special player.
