Four of the most talented young players today are squaring off for the Cap d’Agde title. The first matchup includes two of the youngest grandmasters in history:
M. Carlsen – S. Karjakin
The other matchup includes a superstar and a very underrated Ukrainian young star:
T. Radjabov – A. Volokitin
Which two will advance to the final?
Chess Daily News from Susan Polgar
Finals:
Carlsen vs Radjabov.
Radjabov will pull it off.
So is Topalov still going to play Radjabov in the match he offered if he was still champ?
(a side note: please dont use my comment to insult the players of the WCH 2006 match. I am just curious).
Radjabov said he will want to play whomever had the title after elista so its presumably kramnik. But the timing is bad with WC 2007 about to happen. There are rules stating any challenge to the crown has to END within something like 3 months before the WC. So its a grey area.
Susan: Volokitin not Volotikin
Carlsen vs. Radjabov.
Hmmm … I see that I’m not exactly being original in predicting a Carlsen vs. Radjabov final. In that matchup, I’ll pick Carlsen (still underrated at 2698) as an underdog favorite.
But objectively, even if he has slightly better than a 25% chance to win, it is more likely than not that one of the other three will win the event. This is a very tough competition with extraordinarily talented people vying for the top place, and they’re pulling out all of the stops. (Did you see the bloodshed in the Volokitin-Harikrishna match? Wow!)
I agree with Carlsen vs Radjabov.
Among them anything can happen. Radjabov?
I will say that its 50/50 for Karjakin-Carlsen. They are boat brilliant players, and its a thin line in succses or fiasco 🙂

Seriousely speaking, i think boat Kramnik or Topalov would have had big trouble in a 12/24game match with Carlsen/Radjabov/Karjakin !!
