World Champion’s Sunday Tactic Chess tactic, Puzzle Solving Tal, Mikhail – Malich, Burkhard (WchT U26 1958) presented by Andreas White to move. How should White proceed? 7r/4kp1p/3p1p2/pprPbB2/1q6/6P1/PPPQ3P/1K1RR3 w – – 0 24 Chess Daily News from Susan Polgar
Another “pretty much anything wins” position, but Tal (of course) finds the most direct line.
I think it should start with Rxe5+
I think it should start with Rxe5+
And if Black replies 1…fxe5, how should White continue?
1. Rxe5+ … fxe5
2. Qg5+ … Kf8 (2 .. Ke8 3. Qf6)
3. Qf6 … Kg8 (3 .. Rg8 4. Be6)
4. Be6
and if 4 .. fxe6
5. dxe6
Ok, i haven’t really delved into any line, but…
Take a look at the game score and compare your delving to Tal’s.
Except of course that 4…fxe6 is illegal — the pawn is pinned.
Nope, in my main line the pawn is pinned by the bishop, not by the queen, so it can capture the former!
Anyway, i’ve found no comments (by Tal) in that webpage…
Consul – Your analysis is note for note what Tal did in the actual game. I hope you’re not disappointed to learn that.
