When it came out at Corus that Topalov was receiving signals from Danailov, what precautions were taken during your game with him to keep it from happening?
In recent weeks there has been a lot of discussion about short draws, why they occur and how to prevent them.
As a professional player you have a direct stake in the financial growth of professional chess. In any business, the disatisfaction of customers will adversely affect financial growth.
What changes would you make to induce players to fight for a win in every game?
I would tell him that I believe that Topalov cheated and stole the title in San Luis and that I hope that Topalov is never given another opportunity to play for the title.
I would tell him that I think Topalov stole the trophy in many tournaments and hurt many chess players by his cheating.
I would tell him that I hope Topalov never is given an opportunity to cheat again and that I hope to see his elo rating fall quickly to where he deserves to be.
How can you call yourself World Champion when Topalov is the rightful winner of the 2006 match in Elista as proven by Danailov’s excellent and thourough investigation?
Apart from cheating, I would ask him about his bladder control problem that suddenly appeared in the world championship. Is this going to be a problem in future?
I would tell him that I want to see him play Anand for the WC Match and not Topalov. That the world wants to see an Anand Kramnik world championship match.
“Apart from cheating, I would ask him about his bladder control problem that suddenly appeared in the world championship. Is this going to be a problem in future?”
Jack le Moine, Don’t you think that this post is a bit immature ? I would expect the level of your post to be much better. Disappointed. Sad.. Melody
Do you still remember those good old days in Berlin, with beer, red vine, cigarettes and other amusements, when Kasparov was the “numero uno” and the SC Kreuzberg played in the german Bundesliga?
Some of these he has answered many times. For example regarding short draws, he says the reason is that there are too many game days too close together, and compares the number of rest days professional football (soccer) players get. Chess players get many fewer rest days, and without the short draws it becomes a blunderfest to determine the last still standing.
I really don’t think my question was immature. Let’s take him at his word and assume that his bathroom breaks were out of physical need and not cheating. Clearly, they upset Topolov and clearly they cast a cloud over the championship. More importantly, they were significantly more frequent than normal.
So, is this what we have to look forward to future matches as long as he is champion? Getting up and running to the bathroom every time it’s his turn to move?

I think you’re mistaken in regarding this as either/or. In the pre-computer days I spent a lot of time in bathrooms and out of the playing hall myself. Not because of any physical needs, just out of desire to be out of sight of prying eyes. I wouldn’t do that now though, since it would look worse, but GM’s are used to having this privilige. Spassky once even played several Candidates games almost entirely out of sight.

Clearly they did. It’s a shame Topalov didn’t protest on that basis, rather than doing so in a way that put him squarely in the wrong. Granted, the problem with this kind of protest is that chesplayers dislike admitting that they’re disturbed by something.

If it’s legal, then yes, he probably will. The only solution is for the rules of the game to adapt to the computer age. Organizers who are paying huge sums of money certainly have the right to ask the players to stay “on the field” for as much of the game as possible.
Banning contact with outsiders, especially managers, is also a must. In this age, when even the hotdog man may theoretically have information that a top GM would find useful, such contacts can’t be allowed. You wouldn’t allow a guy on a quiz show to go mingle with the studio audience before giving his answer, would you? Surely world chess can do at least as good a job as Jeopardy does with this stuff.
-Raffael is a spanish singer. -I didnt cheat, im simply the best. -No, but she has a black brother, i can give u his phone number if ur interested. -I dont know how many points. Math is not my favourite matter. -They put many doubles of Danailov making signals to Topa. He had a nightmare, believe me. -I dont call me World Champion, people do, FIDE does, my wife call me “daddy”. -To Jack La Mona, get a life Jack!
I would want to ask how he is so patient though Topalov and Danailov attacking you always, I would congratulate him to be a real gentelman and the best chess player ever seen!
If you don’t win Mexico 2007 (I believe have good chances), who is the World champion for the time in between Mexico tournament and the match Kramnik-‘Mexico winner’ that will follow in 2008?
Danailov has done so much for Topalov’s career. The only way Topalov could get any more popular is to stand up during a match and throw up on his opponent. Will you ever play this loser again if you can help it?
Who is Raffael? 🙂
How did you cheat against Topalov at Elista ’06 ?
“Does Marie-Loure have a sister?”
by how many points will you win mexico?

How much do you charge for private lessons per hour?
Why didn’t you obtain a college degree? Although you’re wealthy, do you not consider education important?
After all, being the WCC you set an example.
Would you ever consider earning a degree such as GM Kamsky earned a law degree?
Is it easier to cheat in Blindfold or Regular chess game?

He’d probably say Regular, since in Blindfold you can’t see your manager’s signals.

Do you speak french? Do you try to learn it?

Jack Le Moine,
I cannot refrain myself from thinking you’re an imbecile.
My question to V. Kramnik :
“Do you share my impression
about Jack Le Moine ?”
Regards (to Kramnik),
Steven
