This is the kind of chess board that is being used at the Canadian Youth Chess Championship. It has the names of all the sponsors from both sides of the board. I usually list all the sponsors in the official program book. But I also like this idea very much! Well done!
Chess Daily News from Susan Polgar
Excellent idea on the chess boards. Long lasting advertising if the players take one home.
Just make sure the tables are wide enough to take the board. Some tables I have played on were too narrow for a larger board. That could be embarrassing if the board did not fit the table.
I am positive the sponsors will love the idea of this kind of board. Make sure you mark the board with the Event Name and Year. People can collect the boards then. Maybe leave a space for autographs. This has a lot of potential.
I hope they allowed you and Paul to take one for demonstration to show sponsors.
What are the chess board dimensions? I like this very much too. Can you bring one to the states and mail it to Dan DeLeon. I would like to do something like this for the 2008 Susan Polgar National Open for Girls, Susan Polgar National Challenge for Boys, and the Susan Polgar International Super Open all in January.
They really look nice although I find them a little distracting for the players, as per own natural behaviour, we tend to fix our eyes in something live like advertisements and that’s what they are specially designed for, to call our attention, and we don’t need that do we? A good amount of ads can be presented on the sides of the tables and that will be probably more productive for the advertisers as they’ll reach a broader audience instead of just 2 players at a game per round.
Ads on the rollups is an awesome idea! Polin, they can the space where the ads are to rest their forearms. But I know quite a number of players who’d rather keep it under their hips and pockets…
