There are so many young and exciting players cropping up today. If you are an organizer and you have an unlimited budget to work with. Which 10 players would you invite for a round robin tournament?
– Anand
– Carlsen
– Kramnik
– Morozevich
– Topalov
– Ivanchuk
– Aronian
– Mamedyarov
– Radjabov
– Leko
– Shirov
– Karjakin
– Others?
Chess Daily News from Susan Polgar
No Leko or Kramnik. They draw too much. No Svidler either.
kramnik is a joke.
Kramnik, Topalov, Ivanchuk, Morozovic, Anand, Aronian, Kamsky, Radjabov, Shirov and Gelfand
I came to the conclusion of:
– Anand
– Carlsen
– Kramnik
– Morozevich
– Topalov
– Ivanchuk
– Aronian
– Mamedyarov
– Radjabov
– Karjakin
Mamedyarov got the 10th place, which I was pretty uncertain about. I thought about Shirov, but I guess Mamedyarov has more potential at this point, although he has played boring chess in super tournaments, but I see him as a bigger challenger to the World championship than Shirov.
1.Carlsen
2.Anand
3.Kramnik
4.Morozevich
5.Ivanchuk
6.Aronian
7.Karjakin
8.Nakamura
9.Svidler
10.Grischuk
The 3 Polgar sisters beating Anna Zatonskih in Blitz chess. I would even offer her 10 Million Dollars if she were to lose on time. All Polgars wold beat her in a matter of seconds.
I would offer any Polgar 10 Million Dollars each if any beat Anna in less than 1 minute.
ANAND
CARLSEN
TOPALOV
SHIROV
RADJABOV
MOROZEVICH
IVANCHUK
NAKAMURA
J.POLGAR
AND …. KASPAROV!
These guys play with each other way too often. It’s not exciting. So my lineup would be:
1. Anand
2. Carlsen
3. Kramnik
4. Morozevich
5. Karjakin
6. Wang Yue
7. Grischuk
8. Vachier-Lagrave
9. Polgar,J
10. Krasenkow (he’s from my country)
I want the strongest possible tournament, so (in order):
1.Carlsen
2.Anand
3.Kramnik
4.Topalov
5.Ivanchuk
6.Morozevich
7.Aronian
8.Radjabov
9.Grischuk
10.Mamedyarov
Make it a double-round tournament (with a suitable number of rest days) -this would be a super-AVRO!
And, absolutely vital (I’m not paying out for the tournament otherwise), NO DRAW RULE – if only cos Kramnik is there.
I would like to invite Karjakin, but it seems to me that he has not really proved himself yet.
And Kamsky is not yet good enough at this stage to be invited – showing what a joke the current World Championship procedure is.
Actually, it is difficult to cut it off at 10. 14 would be the right number at the moment. Then I would have:
11.Svidler
12.Leko
13.Karjakin
14.Kamsky
Shirov, Adams, Ponomariov, Gelfand don’t cut it – and never will.
Your list minus Leko and Mamedyarov. In a year or two, it would be nice to see Nepomniachtchi and Nakamura up there too, but maybe Nepomniachtchi is too bizarre and Nakamura too aloof to make it into the elite.
Anand
Carlsen
Kramnik
Morozevich
Topalov
Ivanchuk
Aronian
Radjabov
Gelfand
Shirov
Kamsky
These are my choice off 11.
It is hard to choose between Shirov and Radjabov if I have to cut it down to 10.
Anand, Kramnik, Morozevich, Ivanchuk, Kamski, Shirov, J.Polgar, Gasimov, Grischuk, Ian Nepomnyaschij.
1. Caruana
2. Nakamura
3. Leon
4. Carlsen
5. Aronian
6. Wang Yue
You said young players and then I would throw in some even younger players just to create some surprises
7. Robson
8. Narditorsky
9. Irina
10. Nip (as a wild card)
JUST TO BREAK THE ICE

One thing we should appreciate is that we have a historically large number of players who have a legitimate crack at being champion, perhaps the most since 1948. I include Leko because he played for and almost won the title in this decade. Likewise Kamsky is, and Shirov was, close.
– Anand
– Carlsen
– Kramnik
– Morozevich
– Topalov
– Ivanchuk
– Aronian
– Leko
– Radjabov
– Karjakin
– Shirov
– Kamsky
If you can afford 14 and want to add a fighting fillip, add Judit Polgar and Mamedyarov (or a local wild card—could be Nakamura if we stage it!).
I would invite
Benjamin, Christiansen, deFirmian, Fedorowicz, Wolff, Rachels, Evans, Byrne, Bisguier, J.Shahade.
I want all my chess players to be USA born and raised.
Would pay $10 million to see it happen.
well, it would be great to have onlu usa members ! a great amateur tournament … ( man ! you are dangerous, do you know that ? )
This list is a joke!! How can you list Anand, Kramnik, or Ivanchuck as part of the young players??????
kamsky
Sloani and Goichnerd playing suicide chess. The first to kill himself wins.
I hope both win.
I would pay money to see that!
Real possible world champions:
Your list,
Plus Svidler
Minus Topalov (I hate scandals), Radjabov, Mamedyarov.
Seems like you have some troubles reading, or better said – you have troubles understanding what you read. Where does it say that Anand, Kramnik and Ivanchuck are young players?
An unlimited budget? I’m sure Kasparov would play for something like $20M. So —
Kasparov
Anand
Carlsen
Kramnik
Topalov
Morozevich
Ivanchuk
Aronian
Those 8 are slam-dunks, the last 2 are somewhat subjective —
Mamedyarov
Karjakin
with Shirov as the alternate in case someone couldn’t make it.
And the Sofia rules would be in effect: no draw offers!
My objectives would be a) exciting chess b) a range of players that engaged the widest possible interest c) lively characters with possible off the board interest d) panders to my own personal preferences
So my 10 would be
Anand, Carlsen, Morozevich, Ivanchuk, Shirov, Kamsky, Short, Kramnik, Topalov, J.Polgar
That includes most of the super-strong elite, and then
– Morozevich, Ivanchuk, Shirov and Short all known for innovative attacking play
– good geographical spread, with nine nationalities represented
– child prodigy and world’s strongest woman, who deserve to be there anyway but nevertheless are useful marketing devices
– potential for Short-Kamsky and Topalov-Kramnik to produce fireworks
– being British, Short is there as my wildcard and for the reasons above a more interesting choice than Adams
That’s true. Didn’t think of that.
With an unlimitted budget would offer 10 trillion dollars for Kasparov to participate- he couldn’t resist becoming the second richest man in the world after us ‘infinitaires’ (with unlimmitted amount of money to offer chess players),
then he could buy off Putin and his cronies and become Russian President with ease!
