I am very curious to know the answers. I am sorry to say but in my nearly 45 years in chess, I see maybe 1% of the players who would actually boycott to stand up for a colleague. Usually, the attitude is good, it opens up a spot for someone else. As long it does not affect me, why would I care?
Talk is cheap. But to give up something important because of your principles is hard!
