Clinics to tune up young chess players

MADISON – Two chess clinics are being offered, from 10 am. to noon this Saturday, Jan. 24, and Saturday, Jan. 31, at the Madison Community House, 25 Cook Ave.
The clinics are for players of all abilities in grades 2-6. They will cover opening moves, the end game, and tactics.To register, call (973) 377-5877, or e-mail troop7@spfc.com.
A chess tournament is scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 8, and participants can register for either of the clinics, the tournament, or all. The clinics and tournament are part of a Madison Boy Scout Troop 7 Eagle project that also includes placing picnic tables – with chessboards on top of them – at Livesey Park on Kings Road in Madison.
