Susan, I think what you are doing is fantastic. Please keep doing it. We need LOTS of good teachers out there who can teach kids how to play chess. Personally, I’ve been trying to give some pointers to three grand-nephews (ages 7-11). I do not see them very often, unfortunately; and I am SO aware of my shortcomings as a teacher! Yet, where they live, there are no school programs of which I am aware to help them develop their skills. My greatest wish (aside from a woman world chess champion), is to see competent teachers of chess spread all across the globe, to help kids such as my grand-nephews.
