Bulgaria’s Topalov Wins Exhibition Chess Match
Vesselin Topalov, Bulgaria’s former world chess champion, won an exhibition match, during which he played blindfolded against an Italian amateur late on Tuesday.
Topalov played on the eve of the M-Tel Masters 2007 chess tournament in Sofia.His Italian opponent, Alex Brunetti from Como, who works in IT, won the right to face Topalov after winning the “Play like Topalov” competition at last year’s M-Tel Masters.
Brunetti guessed more chess moves by the Bulgarian master than any of his two thousand competitors.
