He’s the real champion! He’s the WC and #1 in rating!
Go Topalov!
How did Topalov’s people determine to play Nisipeanu? I never heard of him. A Champion playing a nobody? This reminds me of years ago when boxing Champion Joe Louis fought so frequently and lesser opponents that the sports writers called his opponents “bum of the month”.
Nisipeanu is not a ‘nobody’. He is the current European Champion AND his rating is 2707.
If I were trying to promote chess in my country, what better way than to have the reigning World Champion play a match against one of my nation’s top players? USCF should take note.
Their third game seems to be a draw after 41 moves on the official web site, but continues on

Over now, 2-1 to Topa after 3/4 games.
