It’s funny that Vachier Lagrave can win Biel but not the French Championship.
In Biel, a +2 score was sufficient to win the tournament, now +4 is not enough. Vachier-Lagrave had taken an early lead, and then tried to cruise on by playing a few short draws. This backfired because Tkachiev started winning one game after the other. Ironically, Tkachiev has a reputation as a “drawmaster” … .
