Chess Life, the USCF Official Magazine was completely redesigned. The first redesigned issue was the June 2006 issue with the reigning US Champion Alex Onischuk on the cover.
Today, the USCF revealed the redesigned and much improved US Chess Website. It is certainly much easier on the eyes. There are also many excellent features and items.
The team of Dan Lucas, Jennifer Shahade, Paul Hoffman and staff did a fine job. Congratulations!
The USCF also recently consolidated the Chess Life department by moving it to Crossville. I am sad that a number of my friends are leaving Chess Life as they are not able to relocate to TN. Thank you for everything you did in the past many years for the USCF and US Chess! I wish all of you the best with your future endeavors!
I checked out the new website and it is much easier on the eyes and looks like it will have some fun features like being able to play out the games in Chess Life on line. It will be interesting to see how they bridge the “old media” of a monthly print magazine with the capabilities of the internet. What is great about Susan’s Blog is the speed with which she is able to post about current events (chess and otherwise). Question: Why did the USCF relocate to Crossville anyway?? Is there something historic about that location?
Where is Crossville?
Some chess politicians probably made the decision to move to Crossville for personal reasons.
Why not NY, CA, IL, FL, TX??
I think its a joke that the USCF moved to the “middle of nowhere”. They should have never moved from NY.
…!!! It is my eyes!
It’s a little bit on the slick side and there is way too much “white space” in the redesigned Chess Life magazine. I will be missing the columns that were cut, especially Larry Evans. I am very thankful that Susan will still have a column. There should be more games printed. Each of the games that are given, take up too much space. Lack of space was one of the reasons publishers said they needed to use algebraic notation instead of descriptive. Dreadful, but I guess its easy on my eyes!
