Chess Daily News from Susan Polgar
All hail the chess queen hou yifan.
Surely the Chess Queen and despite ratings, Hou seems to have the edge on Humpy. Of course Chess Queen with Judith’s permission.
This result is somehow funny, as Hou Yifan was trailing 0-4 the last tournement she participated in (the AAI, which took place in June in New Delhi and was won by Fabiano Caruana, ahead of Viktor Laznicka and Krishnan Sasikiran).
Hou is doing great now that she is totally focussed on chess.
But once she starts dating or even gets married she will be somewhat distracted and lose her edge. Still a strong player but not totally consumed by chess
Fisher was great and never seriously distracted from chess by a woman, and he kept getting better at chess and suffered in his personal life.
Magnum Carlson saw his chess results dip when he discovered sex. The Polgar sisters lead a healthy normal life and the chess suffered a bit.
Then again maybe the Chinese government will not let Hou date until she is 30,
Most of us are happy to give up 100 rating points to be with our significant others.
At the last tournament in New Delhi, Hou was just too tired having played in too many tournaments the previous 2 months.
