Delgado gets 2 HRs, 5 RBIs; Maine goes 6 for first win in 4 starts

MIAMI – John Maine remained focused during his chess match with Shawn Green yesterday afternoon, and Green, bracing for the potential loss, said it was a motivator for that night’s start against the Marlins. “Just a quick confidence-booster,” Green cracked.
Shortly after dispatching Green in chess, Maine did the same to Florida. It just took a bit longer. He allowed four hits in six innings to win for the first time in four starts and Carlos Delgado rediscovered his power stroke with a pair of spectacular home runs and five RBIs in a 7-2 win over the Marlins at Dolphin Stadium.
