The Liga de Campeones super tournament will begin in Vitoria-Gasteiz, Spain from November 1st.
Here is the impressive field of former world champions and my sister Judit:
Veselin Topalov
Ruslan Ponomariov
Judit Polgar
Rustam Kasimdzhanov
Anatoly Karpov
It will be a double round robin with classical time control.
I was invited to participate in this event and it would have been a blast to play against this field. Unfortunately, the schedule conflicts with the SPICE Cup at Texas Tech University which will begin next week. Perhaps next time 🙂
I personally think that the format is great and it is definitely for a good cause. I wish the organizer big success and I will be updating it right here.

Its unfortuante you cannot play. When was your last serious tournament activity?
Mayor’s Cup last year when I came second behind Kamsky and ahead of Onischuk, Gulko, Ibragimov and Stripunsky. I also won the Women’s Chess Cup in Dresden, Germany. I like unique events.
Best wishes,
Susan Polgar

I wish you could have played in it.
Thats fantastic!
GM Polgar:
That would’ve been great to see you play against those top players, even if you would’ve been a huge underdog going by ratings. Do you think Judit would go easy on you when you play each other?
Fighting chess all the way and never be afraid. I was the lowest rated player by about 100 points at the Mayor’s Cup last year and I came in 2nd, 1/2 point behind Kamsky. Ratings are just numbers 🙂
Best wishes,
Susan Polgar

Anyone know if there is an English version of their tournament? If not, I’ll rely on the news here at Susan’s blog.
Susan, you and your husband do a great job keeping us up to date with Chess news and events. Thank you!

What I meant was Enlish web site to read the news.

Why are there not more women super GMs?
For some reason at the extremes of human intelligence, both high and low, there many more males than females.
I heard that perhaps women are not normally as agressive as men and that reflects in results on the chess board. More men get in fights and are arrested for assault.
Several possible reasons for the lack of aggression; society roles, maternal, physical etc.
Are most GMs normal, or are they crazy like Bobby or Geeks?
It would have been amazing to see you play such world class competition. I think you are much better than your FIDE rating shows. Your more recent tournament activities have been quite positive despite the fact that you are relatively inactive as a player. I think you would have scored well in that field.
We just got the news that Khalifman couldn’t came 20 hours prior to the start of the tournament. And as everybody was playing on the European Ch. in Greece, it seemed almost impossible to get a good replacement.
So we tought it would had been nice to bring here a former Female World Champion… and have two of the Polgar sisters together again 🙂
Sadly the idea was too crazy, and Susan had important commitments in the USA. But we managed to bring Nisipeanu on time for the tournament. So at the end we have 6 players, not 5 🙂
