Thamaraselvi of Velammal with eight points (in nine rounds) won the Ramco 32nd Rachel Paranjothy chess tournament for women at Ethiraj College for women.
After Thamaraiselvi and Janani were tied for the first position, a better tie-break score helped the former bag the title and winner’s purse of `5000. IM Manuel Aaron and WGM Meenakshi gave away the prizes.
