Congrats to Moro for being +4 in the Linares half!
Chess Daily News from Susan Polgar
Haha, what a game. Moro keeps bringing 19 century chess in front of our eyes. It is clear that he played some immortal games here in Linares.
What a game by Moro!
Wonderful chess!
Yes, Morozevich is in a great moment.
you gotta love this guy – the last romantic of the game. He played the best chess throughout the event. He deserved more.
Great moro!
i guess he needs time (rounds) to start mving the machinery, i dont find any other explanation as to why he didnt perform that well on the first half of the tournement, maybe the new world is to much to handle for most, because last year topalov did the same. (i dont think he needs oil to start bashing out opponents by the way, that chess is much more straighfoward, the moro chess is a different matter al together.
Moro is my favourite player.
Just sometimes is a little inconsistent, but his games are always fun to watch.
You never see the fancy variation every other grandmaster play
My dearly departed chess friend Luis would have been extacted to see his hero Morozevich do so well and play such incredible games such as this!
Moro- the last romantic of the game?
Let’s not forget that Topalov is still alive.
Is Moro cheating ?
In Linares he probably got some signal from Kremlin.
Anonymous,
Anybody that understands chess knows that Topalov does not play computer moves.
Kramnik plays like a computer.
polo mateo,
topa is not romantic, like moro (larsen type), he is just hard figther (fisher type), and topa is perfect computer player, kramnik is perfect anti-computer player, topa games based on calculation and kramnik’s on intuition, it is a reason that topa is relately weak in rapid games (no time for calculation) and endgames, but good in complex middlegames, i am just an expert, but i think I have some little understanding
how topalov supporters are pathetic, he is the last. period. no kramnik, kasparov, karpov, fisher, spassky, petrosian, botwinnik, smyslov, euwe, alekhine, capablanka, lasker, steinitz were last on any tournament during theirs title contention years, tal was last on curasao, but he drop out and was completely sick, kaprov was last in las-palmas, but his champions years were over, like euwe in 1948.
So topalov is a FIDE World Champion, like Matisson in 1924, Euwe in 1928, Boglubow in 1929, Karpov (93-99), Khalifman, Anand, Ponomorev, Kasimzanov, nothing more or less, but he is not a world champion calibre, and never will be, he is too old for this, i hope next year it will be Anand-Kramnik match and than it is time for Carlsen, karjakin, radjabov, mamedyarov and others youngsters.
He is great player, but even if he is not cheater, he broke his fate by water closet match. I hope his peak is over, so stupid things has to be punished.
There are a lot nice people and great players, like Ivanchuk and Anand, they both have super careers and by overall they stronger that topalov.
Anonymous,
I agree you have little understanding as you cannot compare Topalov style to Fischer. They may have the same fighting spirit but Topalov’s style is more like Kasparov and Tal. Fisher style is more universal, sharp tactics arising of sound positionally play. Kramnik’s style is positional similar to Karpov and Capablanca following a clear logic of computer program.
Everyone is entitled to a bad tournament so I am withholding my judgemnent on Topalov. His games were still the most exciting in Linares.
each player has there own style. styles mean nothing if you cant use it effectivly. i wouldnt care what style it is as long as you win. ill take an ugly win over a beutiful loss anytime.
