GM Wesley So not playing? His name is nowhere in the pairings?
Good thing GM Wesley So withdrew from this tournament, it wont help his quest to be in the top as playing against low rated players can cause him to lose substantial elo points. His fans will surely be relieve 🙂
Wesley So has a 1st round bye!
Wesley So has a 1st round bye!
Having a bye in a 9 rounds tourney wont help you win the tournament. Robson & So are classmates, if So has conflict in his class schedule & not possible to play, Robson should also not play for the same reason but he did. Its just a simple case of GM Wesley So carefully selecting tourney which benefits him more… playing against those low rated players is useless as it wont advance his quest & solidify his top 10 position especially if his opponents would just play to draw him, GM So could lose elo points by a mere draw.
