Chess Daily News from Susan Polgar
Kramnik rules.
other 3 games in A group are draw.
As I said before, the Kramnik strategy continues unnoticeable to all but a few. 47% voted for Carlsen to win Corus A Only 2% voted for Kramnik (8 votes) of which most were me.

Here Kramnik, always the gentleman, does not seize the lead but agrees to a peaceable quiet draw with Ivanchuk allowing to Shirov blow himself out and up against Anand. Minding his own business, Kramnik becomes the last man standing.
I speculate Kramnik is back because Kasparov is back (playing through Carlsen). So Kramnik is still eager to assert his superiority over Kasparov or the son of Kasparov. But in the long run I think Kramnik should do what Kasparov did, start training Robson to take on Carlsen, that way he can do other things while his prodigy sits at the board.
Swaminathan conducted a wonderful attack against Grandelius–in case anyone didn’t look at that one.
thanks for the results Susan, the Corus website seems unavailable for the moment.
Very funny comment there: Kasparov (playing through Carlsen). How stupid! As though Carlsen did not prove himself before this connection. Jealousy is a hard disease.
Only 2% voted for Kramnik (8 votes) of which most were me.
And ME!… cheering for Kramnik’s victory! 🙂
Start training Robson? A little ahead of yourself don’t you think? How about an Anish Giri, Karjakin instead?
Thanks for keeping us updated. It seems that the American quick 3 day tournament is having an affect. We aren’t used to playing long tournaments… i.e. Look at Robson crashing at the end.
You would think Corus would hire a new webmaster… the site crashes EVERY year!
Oh yeah, and I am officially not a Nakamura fan anymore. The pride comes before the fall. The same day he had enough testicular fortitude to say “Shirov messed up with 1…C5” he got his tail spanked twice in a row.
Just shut up and win and lose gracefully please. This is not the cold war and you give Americans a bad name. I will put my hope in Robson now.
Great:
There were 8 votes for Kramnik:
1] Anonymous 12:37 voted twice (2)
2] Leprechaun voted once (1)
This leaves 5 other secret Kramnik supporters still in hiding.
So, who are you?
And why did you vote for Drawnik, I mean Kramnik?
What are your hobbies, besides watching, say, the grass grow?
Did you vote that way because you hate Kasparov?
Or maybe you love Putin?
Did you accidentally check the wrong box?
Because the Petrov is the only opening you know?
You really wanted Karpov to win, but he is not playing, so Kramnik was close enough?
The Kramnik hairstyle?
“Kasparov, be gone from this child and return to the depths from which you came!!!”
Scene from “The Exorcism of Magnus Carlsen.”
Kramnik has class… good for him taking the lead. I personally like his more ‘positional’ style. I wouldn’t be surprised if he regained the title one day.
just as long as Topolov doesn’t ever get the title, I am happy 🙂
LOL 5:54.
I myself give respect to this great player. He isn’t that boring many that people see in him.
okay
