With this short press release I would like to bring attention to the following facts:
1. In spite of having passed all the possible deadlines, FIDE still has not announced the venue of the match Topalov-Kamsky. That means that the match should normally take place in Bulgaria because the Lvov offer seems not to have been materialized.
2. Mr. Gata Kamsky has declared that he does not wish to play in Bulgaria. According to the match regulations he should be replaced by me in this case.
3. It is absolutely clear that the silence and uncertainty should end and the firm decision about the forthcoming match should be taken. Nobody can wait forever and this concerns the reserve players as well.

Typical Digusting Commie, wants something for nothing.
You lost, go home
This is ugly. Chess players should be trained with honor, respect and class.
wow that’s news.

I think Shirov has made some good arguments. All we have from Kamsky is a bunch of broken promises… this way, something would get decided.
Someone needs a diaperinski change.

What is there to comment on?
People cannot act civilly in professional chess. No wonder we have creepy people damaging the image of this noble game.
The anonymouses are just putting voice to the frustration felt by millions of chess fans who want to see their heroes playing, not whining like little brats in a schoolyard.
Okay.
I do not understand what you say, sorry.
okay from Germany
Shirov is right. He should replace Kamsky.
This will make the games more fighting chess so if this happens I am going to look forward to the match even more!
Topalov – Shirov! What a match!
Finally Kamsky is forced to do anything.
Agree with Shirov.
Shirov just expressed his rediness to replace Kamsky in case he refuses to play in Bulgaria (just like the regulations say). Whats disgusting or unrespectfull about that???
He is right – a decision must be made because the match should start in 6 months.
1. Topalov has to know against wo he must prepare on.
2. Shirov has to know if he should start preparation or not.
3. Bulgarian organizators need to know if they should start preparing for the match or not.
4. Sponsors need to know how are they going to market this match.
5. Last but not least, it’s time that chess fans know who will play.
I think the final decision will be made this weekend on FIDE presidental board in Athene. Otherwise Bulgaria will withdraw their bid and then the match isn’t going to happen at all.
It’s really all up to Kamsky whether he is ready to play in Bulgaria or not. It’s obvious that there is no other bidder.
Kamsky should accept. He would be a fool not to – he will probably never get a chance like this again.
Where did Ponomariov’s refusal to play his Kasparov match get him?
Unfortunately, Topalov-Shirov won’t be a match – it will be a walkover, so has little sporting interest.
If Kamsky plays, at least there is some doubt about the outcome.
To the last anon. Who’s going to walk over who? Shirov has a + score against Topaaov even from the last few years and I think hi’s a very uncomfortable opponent to Topalov. Much more so than Kamsky. I personally think that Shirov-Topalov would be a really cool match to watch.
I think they should agree to a threesome match. Otherwise, court orders will decide the issue in favor of a fourth party.
Court won’t decide anything. The whole matter is really very simple.
Kamsky earned the spot in this match by winning the World cup. He had almost 6 months to find another organizer but he failed to find one. So it’s all up to him whether he will play in Bulgaria or not. If he refuses then his spot goes to Shirov (World cup runner-up).
It’s really simple – he has 48 hours to make a decision.
topalov is +6 in the last five years against shirov in classical chess.
Shirov is a very good match player. He beat Kramnik remember.
Also, he was losing heavily from J. Polgar in their games when they played a match. Shirov won 5.5-0.5 (if I recall correctly).
Let all three play.
Shirov is right in urging FIDE to make a decision, because it’s high time for all involved & potentially involved parties.
On the other hand, Topalov-Shirov would be the match of two “losers” and I don’t want to see it…
Nice try, goodbye!
You guys believe everything you read on the Internet????
“You guys believe everything you read on the Internet????”
Hmmm, do I believe I just read that? Yes, I believe I did read that. Do you believe you wrote that?
This is really funny! Shirov should not have exposed himself so early. Now Kamsky might agree to play just to penalize Shirov…
Shirov certainly looks creepy here jumping so early into the fray.
There is the problem with professional chess. The lack of solidarity among Grandmasters.
It would not have mattered if Onischuk, Shulman, Shabalov had sat out the US Championship. Finegold, Bonin and Langer would gladly play for a title.
There is always an opportunist in the waiting.
I find it uncharacteristic of Shirov who I am normally a fan of, but here I think he is slightly off. I understand his likely reasoning, but it just does not look good.
Anyway, it doesn´t really matter wether Topalov plays Kamsky or Shirov wrt the outcome as they will both, unfortunately, get destroyed by team Topalov.
One good thing if, and I really do expect this, Kamsky plays, is that the result will silence all those American patzers going on and on about Kamsky and Nakamura.
Kamsky wants to play

On Monday I expect FIDE’s official announcement that the Topalov-Kamsky match will be held in Bulgaria.
