Sharp eyes for the not so obvious Chess tactic, Puzzle Solving White to move. Is this a draw? 4k3/8/6K1/3R4/8/B2p4/3p4/8 w – – 0 5 Chess Daily News from Susan Polgar
1 Be7
… d1Q
2 Bg5 when only Qh5+, giving up the Q prevents an immediate mate.
1… Kxe7
2 Rd3 with a routine win

Cute, 1.Be7! wins for white. If black queens his pawn the bishop moves to g5 and mate next move, if the bishop is taken then 2.Rxd3. Like it!

White wins with the very strange 1 Be7! If Black takes the bishop then 2 Rd3 wins as there is no stalemate defense. Thus:
1…d1=Q 2 Bg5! and White has unstoppable mate on d8 and the black Queen is powerless.

I see Be7! If Kxe7 then Rxd3 winning.
If d1Q Then Bg5 and there are no checks, and no way to stop Rd8++
1.Be7!, d1=Q
2.Bg5 and 3.Rd8#
Be7!
1. Be7!!
and now
if 1. … Kxe7 2. Rxd3 +-
if 1. … d1=Q 2. Bg5 and 3. Rd8 mate
Be7a nd Bg5
e7
Be7
If Kxe7 Rxd3
If d1=Q Bg5
it is a Reti composition reversed
re5+ kd8 or kd7 rd5+ and take pawns
Reti Study nº 45:

White: Kb6,Re5,Be4
Black: kd7,pe3,pe2
Solution:
1.Bf5+ Kd8 2. Bd7(d3)wins
if 1.Bc6+ Kd6 draw
Very beautiful
1.Rd3 and now
1…Kf8 Rd8 mate
1…d1Q 2.Rd1 Kf8 3.Rd8 mate
My move is much simpler.
1) Re5 + Kd8/Kd7
2) Rd5 + gobbling the d pawns with tempo (check)
I don’t think we should look for a speculative win especially if we can find a simpler way to win. That’s solely my personal opinion.

Kf8 is not possible because of the Ba3

1. Re5+ Kd7 (d8)
2. Rd5+ Ke8 is the diagram position
if 3. Rxd3 d1=Q and draw
