A very pretty tactic:
1. Bd7 Rd7
2. Bb6! Kb6
3. Rd7 and white up an exchange.
Black does even worse by declining the capture at move 2:
2. …..Kc8
3. Ra8 Nb8
4. Rb8! Kb8
5. Rd7 and white is up a full piece.
Win the exchange?
1.Bd7 Rd7
2.Bb6 Kb6 (2…Kc8 losses a pieace to 3.Ra8)
3.Rd7 Nb4
4.c3
1.Bxd7 Rxd7 2.Bb6+ Kxb6 3.Rxd7 wins the exchange; and 1.Bxd7 Rxd7 2.Bb6+ Kc8 3.Ra8+ Nb8 4.Rxb8+ Kxb8 Rxd7 does as well. Both variations leave White with a winning position. Phil

5. Rxd7 wins a piece for white
The best move would be;
1. Bxd7 Rxd7
2. Bb6+ and the black rook at d7 could not be saved.
Hi Susan Polgar,
Oooops my earlier posting for this puzzle is missing,of course thats in line with initial White piece move “B*Nd7”,better exchange position for White piece.
Thats Okay.
