Russian tactic Chess tactic, Puzzle Solving White to move. How should white proceed?Source: ChessToday.net Chess Daily News from Susan Polgar
1) bc6 threatening the queen as well as opening the d file for the rooks to mate black
1. Bc6 opens the d-file to devastating effect.
Bc6
? I can’t seem to find a refutation. Black seems to lose material or get checkmated.
1. Bc6! Qxc6 2. Rd8+ Rxd8 3. Rxd8+ Qe8 4. Rxe8#
bc6 and queen can not take bishop because of mating threat on d8
maybe bishop to c6 ?
Way too hard.
Doesnt Bc6 win an exchange immediately?
Bc4 and Bc6 both threaten the Queen and the back rank mate. I can’t see any defence for either move.
Bc6 looks to have slightly fewer variations, so I will shoot for that.
Perhaps “way too easy”.
1. Bc6 double threat of winning Queen with Bxb5 and back rank mate beginning with Rd8+
1. .. Qxc6? trying to hold onto everything loses to back rank mate 2. Rd8+ Rxd8 3. Rxd8+ Qe8 4. Rxe8#
1. .. Qb6 the only try 2. Bxa4 Nxe4
(2. .. Nxa4 trying to only go down the exchange 3. Rd6 Qa5 still defending against back rank mate 4. Qa7!)
3. Rd7 Qf6 4. Qxf6 gxf6
(4. .. Nxf6 5. Rd8+ Rxd8 6. Rxd8+ Ng8 7. Bb3)
5. Rd8+ Rxd8 6. Rxd8+ Kg7 7. Kg2
Ac6. Amenaza la dama y mate con las torres
1. ♗c6, threatening
2. ♗xb5 or
2. ♖d8+ ♜xd8
3. ♖xd8#
Super simple: Bc6
1. Bc6 Qxc6 2. Rd8+ with mate, or 1…Qb6 2. Bxa4, and white wins.
Bc6 doesn’t look that bad..or hard to find.
Lucymarie is nearly there but why waste time winning the exchange and providing a route to f6? 2 Rd7 wins as Rg8(only move) is met by Rd8
