Chess Daily News from Susan Polgar
Up to now, Ponomariov shows a great fighting spirit like all the players!
Hard to say who will be the winner of this event!
The painting is very original. Your’s sisters are the best.kisses.
Predictions after 1 hour.
Shirov – Pono draw, Shirov will not be able to move the hot Ponomariov and Ruslan will be satisfied with a black draw.
Aronian – Carlsen, 1-0, Aronian has been playing well this tourney but not got quite as many points as he deserves. Carlsen plays in a similar manner to Aronian, but is probably slightly worse still, so he will be dominated (sort of like how Kasparov always beat Shirov a few years ago).
Leko – Moro, draw. A fighting game. Moro will do well, but Leko will be chilly as always and neutralize all excitement around move 30.
Mamedyarov – Gelfand, draw, the calm Gelfand has been playing unusually aggressively today. He has a good record (Carlsen and Aronian among others) of punishing players who think that they can overpower him with tactics. But today he looks like the only one who might overextend.
Svidler – Grischuk, 1-0, Svidler shows some teeth and beats Grischuk while he is down.
What a shame. Live relay doesn’t work.
Ponomariow is vaving more chances to win.
