This is U.S. Army Pfc. James Murphy, 23, from St. Peter, Mo., of Alpha Company, 2nd Battalion, 3rd Infantry Regiment, 3rd Stryker Brigade Combat Team. He was playing chess by the light on his weapon at Camp Taji in Baghdad, Iraq.
Chess Daily News from Susan Polgar
It would be so much better for everyone if he was playing chess back at home…
But I have to admit that he uses his weapon in a more creative way than most people 🙂

Super comment !
Our Government is at war with everyone.
we are even at war against our own people. It is called a War on Drugs better called the War on Poor People and Minorities in America. We refuse to educate these people and then we give them no job. And then we refuse to give them police protection. And finally we call them criminals when they are just trying to survive in the jungle we created for them.
I guess we can call it a civil war except the other side does not fight back and still we can not win the war.
Communist Russia tried to control everyone. We are trying to control everyone. Communist Russia failed and we are failing. We must fail because Love is God is giving freedom. Control is the opposite of Love, the opposite of God.
Let us Stop all Wars. They never win.
How can Americans call ourself a peaceful country when we are at war with everyone. The answer is that we are in denial.
Jesus said to Love your enemy. I pray for the day that a leader will proclaim that we are going to love our enemies and stop trying to kill them. Our country is not really a christian country. To be Christian we must do as Christ says, love our enemy.
I love America
I do not love War.
I love my leaders and government
They are simply making a big mistake on how to handle problems.
War never works.
We spend a trilliion dollars killing people in Iraq. no money to educate the poor. so we throw the poor in jail under the excuse of the war on drugs. this is all insanity.
a trillion dollars, a thousand billion, that could have been used to love people was used to hate and kill people. what a waste.
We seem to think that if we spend a thousand billion dollars to kill the people that those who survive will love us. what a laugh. spreading hatred and death does not get people to love us. the twisted mind of insanity.
May the Peace and Love of God enter your soul and fill you with happiness in every moment of every day for all eternity.
Your Brother
Creative use of the weapons we have at hand…isn’t that what we all look for? Of course it is! Well said!!
Dear I am your brother,
Sorry to inform you to some facts, but ALL wars are because of religion. So don’t just blame the government.
War is indeed a sad thing. But why?! Well…. the muslims want to convince all other people of their truth, while the christians want to change all non-christians minds with ‘their’ truth…. And of course there is always the struggle for $$$ profit! Like oil or other valuable resources. Or even for water!
War is bad. Religion is one of the causes. So no need to blame god. Mr. Bush claims “god bless america” and then goes to war….
I wish this should end 🙁
Probably never will…
Dear Brother,
God bless our soldiers. It’s difficult to fight a war when the anti-war/pro-terrorist democrat leftist politicians back home do not support you, and the mouthpieces of free speech spout off incessantly…
Your democrat friends have tried shoving big government down our throats for decades with a failed federally controlled education system.
It should be in the state’s hands and privatized.
If you want to blame someone for your lack of education, blame yourselves. Take responsibility. Make the right decisions yourself and retract your lips from the government breast.
Less government is better government. People have to think for themselves. Break the chain of generations of handouts.
Sounds like you want more government programs to help those who WON’T help themselves, and not those who CAN’T help themselves.
Light Bulb: YOU ARE THE PROBLEM.
Dear Brother,
Wonderful post!
It is indeed insanity to imprison the poor over nothing more than the ingestion of a chemical substance.
As for the war, it wasn’t a war – Iraq did not put up much resistance at all, nor did they wish to fight in the first place. And now there is talk of potential conflict with Iran!!!??? God have mercy on us…

“It’s difficult to fight a war when the anti-war/pro-terrorist democrat leftist politicians back home do not support you”
What’s wrong with being anti-war? The other bit seems a contradictory mouthful! Are left and right still the stereotypical things they once were? I suppose in the US, “social democrat”/”socialist” is as much of a swearword as any other…LOL…like “social responsibilty”…
In UK we’re getting that way…though the benefits of things like the NHS are lost on the Blairites…at least the US looks after itself/its own self interest…would that one could say that of the poodle in 10 Downing Street?
Mr. 10 Downing Street:
If you haven’t been living under a rock/sac of rice for the past 2 years, you’d fully realize that the left/democrat/anti-war element in the US is also ANTI SOLDIER.
Just ask the great socialists John Kerry, Ted Kennedy, and Socialist Queen Hillary Clinton-ista.
They would tell you they are anti-war but pro military, except for their tongues.
They would also have you believe that Radical Islam will not take the war to the American Soil….
They have already forgotten 9/11.
They would also tell you that leaving Iraq is what the American People want, and that is true, partly. The American People would like to leave Iraq, but not at the price of bringing the Radical Islamist war to our borders and leaving that country and it’s citizens to be victimized, raped, brutalized and murdered my the Radical savages in the name of Allah.
That is what the AMERICAN MEDIA would have you believe.
So flip it off CNN and get some real news.
“Sorry to inform you to some facts, but ALL wars are because of religion. So don’t just blame the government. “
Complete bullshit. All wars before industrial revolution were because of religion. Agricultural states used religion as a cause for war. Neither first nor second world war, nor Korean, nor Vietnam is due to religious differences.
