Last night, local Chicago player FM Mehmed Pasalic scored a victory over IM Arjun Vishnuvardhan to secure his second IM norm.
FM Pasalic gained his first IM norm at the 3rd North American FIDE Invitational in April 2006 with a score of 7/9. FM Pasalic’s rating has been over 2400 once so he needs only 1 more norm to have his IM title application processed.
Congrats to FM Pasalic for a well played tournament and we home next month in the 10th North American FIDE Invitational he can complete his quest to becoming an IM and becoming the first IM completely produced by the North American FIDE Invitational series.

I am guessing that getting the final IM norm is easier than getting the final GM norm, just ask Smetankin and Finegold!
i’ve played Vishnuvardhan and he is no great shakes!
