YERVEAN.- GM Vladimir Hakobyan is confident that Armenia will never have such a strong national team.
Akopian spoke about his plans during a Thursday press conference in Yerevan. In particular, chess player said he would not participate in European championships.
There are two team tournaments – European championships and World championships – held in November and December respectively. Therefore, Akopian believes it is senseless to participate in the European championship, since it is not that important.
“Young GMs can participate in the European championships. It is not up to me to decide but I would not like to participate in that tournament. It is my personal opinion,” he said.
Vladimir Akopian said today’s Armenian chess national is the strongest in Armenia’s chess history.

They will beat Russia again.
I don’t know about that. With Kramnik (who seems to have a positive results against Aronian in the last few encounters), Karjakin, Grischuk, Morozevich (Has become a more of a stable player since his return, and if he does not become sick again), and Yakovenko (has proven to worth his salt on the Russian National Team)…I think Armenia will have a run for their money against Russia.
