GMs Onischuk and Carlsen tied for first last year in Biel. Carlsen won the playoff and went on an unprecedented rise to the top of the chess world. They are facing each other again today. The above diagram is the position after 25…b6.

After 32..Qc5 Carlsen forces a queen swap. I don’t see how to avoid a draw now….
It’s finish… Draw
Nice game by both players, but always balanced. Draw is the correct result. Will keep the overall standings close…

Carlsen can’t hardly win with black pieces. I feel sorry for those live-rating-list, because he needs to win with black somewhere.
He doesn’t need to win with black- winning with white and drawing with black is enough to get him over the 2800 mark from this tournament.
In fact just winning the next game with white will put above Anand on the virtual list with 2799.1 to Anand’s 2798.
Then even drawing the remaining black games he can still end up with 2802.1 by the end.
This is not a top tournament, still Carlsen won’t have an easy road to pass the 2800 mark if his opponents play sound and solid, like they should realy.
Please stop your calculating the ratings or do it elsewhere! Living Chess is too precious to always look at numbers and positions in the world ranking. Please share with me the joy watching the games and the people who play them.
okay
ok, dad!
The rating calculations were not misplaced as they were correcting the misconception by an earlier poster that Carlsen needs to win with black otherwise they were sorry for the ‘live rating’
You say just let a mistaken post pass?
what happens if 25 … Ba3
