Chess Daily News from Susan Polgar
The mighty has fallen.
Not a good tournament for Vlad. He threw everything at Naiditch but left himself no outs. I suppose he felt he could still put in a respectable score but when you are out of form perhaps his usual solidity would have been better. I hope to see him back to his better
self soon.
If you play very few sharp games with black against 1.e4, then you became weaker and weaker. So I’m not surprised to see this happens. Kramnik has played the Petroff too much. Time for more and more Sicilian games with black, like Kan, Najdorf, Dragon, Sveshnikov.
Kramnik is where he belongs,at the bottom, beside his friend and complice Leko .
Good for Ponomariov!
Kramnik has won Dortmund nine times so doesn’t belong at the bottom of the table ,unless you are speaking emotionally and don’t like him. Good to see Ponomariov win a top tournament.
Kramnik likes to win with White and draw with Black. This is OK in Matches, but not in Tournaments. When other players are winning with White and Black then you have to play to win with Black also. Kramnik seems to find this hard these days. I think he needs to include some good counter attacking systems into his repetoire. It’s clear he needs to do this for Tournaments. Not the Pirc, it sucks! Sicilian and Grunfeld would be good! Kramnik used to win alot of games with the Sicilian.
Not so fearsome is he?? Kramnik and Leko deserve exactly the place they have.
Who cares about Kramnik?
He’s right where he belongs.
It is payback time. Anand should get in touch with Kramnik now!
Kramnik plays the Pirc theoretical correct BUT it can ( as in this game )be very tactical and a lot of dynamic in the positions from this opening. Kramnik is not like Shirov in this positions. My recommendation for Kramnik is to play the Accelerated Dragon! I think he can grind some wins from the Marocy Bind positions because his positional understanding is very good.
I care about Kramnik. He’s my favourite player. Chess fans are vultures.
