Anna Muzychuk takes Maia Chiburdanidze Cup

The Women International Chess Tournament “Maia Chiburdanidze Cup” was held from 25th May to 3rd June in Tbilisi, under management by the Georgian Chess Federation. 58 players from four countries took participation.
Top-seeded IM Anna Muzychuk overshadows the rest of the field and claims the tournament with convincing 8 points from nine games, full point ahead of the second placed IM Nino Khurtsidze.
Muzychuk, originally from Lviv, Ukraine, is representing Slovenia and currently ranks as world’s 8th in the FIDE women rating list.
Maia Chiburdanidze (1961) is legendary Georgian chess grandmaster and the seventh Women’s World Chess Champion. She held the title in the period between 1978 and 1991. She is the only chess player in history who has won nine Chess Olympiads.
