Chess Daily News from Susan Polgar
Good one by Morozevich.
I am glad to see him winning, especially against another elite player as Kramnik is.
I hope Moro is going to win this event.
Kramnik seems to lose in quick fahion now and then. Unrecognizable.
Morozevich is playing well and has a good chance to break 2800 from this event.
“Mr. Excitement”, indeed! Too bad he missed his win against Mamedyarov or else he’d be #1 now with a 2800 rating.
Morozevich improved in past few years. I haven’t seen him blundering or picking wrong path in a while.
Why is every performance related to the figure 2800? A game is beautiful by its moves.
I remember Carlsen would break 2800, before everything went silent about his existence.
Yes, this ELO talk is absurd when repeated over and over again. Just see the beauty of the play.
Morozevich has shown great performances over the last several years. Very stable and steadily improving his results, including against top ten opponents!
This 7.g4 thing looks kinda bizarre, but I guess Morozevich knows what he`s doing. Spectacular and intense, hooray Alexander!
7. g4 is an old move which has proven its value in complicating the game more than once.
If I’m not mistaken, Kasparov used it against Fritz in the X3D match.
Aronian’s main reply to the Semi-slav used to be this g4. Also Shirov has played it on several occasions. It is far from a new or strange move 🙂
Pull up your socks Kramnik
Anand is coming
21…. Be6??
I guess that Moro works a lot on his game, which is strange, considering that he does not want to participate in WC cycle.
If my speculation is correct, looks like work with Kasimdzhanov helped him to strenghten his game.
He has worked (is working?) with Kasimdschanov?
Who said that he doesn’t want to participate in WCC cycle? He just didn’t want to participate in Grand Prix.

– Exactly. The Grand Prix is just another silly method by Fide to maintain Kramnik, Topalov, and Anand totally protected at the top of the ladder. In my opinion, it is just ridiculous that a WCC can have the option of defending his title every 3 years. The WCC should be put on the line at least twice a year.
Why not a world championship every month? People get bored of the same faces so easily nowadays. It’s 21th century.
I think the WC should just be determined by the rating. And right now Kasparov is the WC because no one has ever broken his 2854 rating!
7. g4 is a Shabalov novelty.
1) Grand Prix is not equal to WCC cycle. World cup is part of the cycle too and morozevich said that he might participate there.
2) Kasparov’s highest rating was 2851, not 2854
3) Kasparov is retired for more than 3 years now so I don’t understand your assertion that he should be World champion.
4) Since when is the idea of a WC match every 3 years rediculous??? That how it was done in the good old days. Besides in current regulations the WC match will be played every 2 years.
5) there was a world championship match in 2006, a world championship tournament in 2007, there will be world championship match in 2008, 2009, 2011, 2013, etc. You certanly complain about the lack of WCC matches. At no time in histroy were there more championship matches.
6) You are idiots.

– Like you just said…in the good old days. These are entirely different times and since FIDE is trying to invest money and time to increase the exposure Chess is getting in the mainstream media one of the first things they should do is modernize their WC cycle. Boxing, Baseball, and Basketball would be the lamest sports if the world champion/s only defended their title once every 3 years.
Anom 3:20 also said: ‘You are idiots.’
– Wow, that is one of the most intelligent, thoughful, and enlightening comments that I have ever read on the internet. How long did it take you to be able an compose all those words together? Did your mommy help you, or did you do it on your own?
It was my mommy.
2004 – the FIDE WCC and the classical WCC was played (pick your own)
2005 – FIDE WCC tournament was played
2006 – WCC was played
2007 – WCC tournament was played
2008 – WCC will be played
2009 – WCC will be played
end of 2010 or early 2011 – WCC will be played
What the hell do you want???
Chess is not like other sports. World championship can’t be held every year. Besides all other sports don’t have it every year either. For example, the most popular sport in the world – football – has the World Cup every 4 years!
Basketball World championship is held every 4 years!!!
Baseball World cup is held every 2 years!!!
