Isaac Stiepleman, 8, makes his last moves against Rohan Rao, 7, in the final mach of the Scholastic Chess Tournament at the Parkade Center on Saturday. Stiepleman won first place in the K-3 division, and Rao ended in third place. Rao was tied with another player and, because of a tie-breaking system, ended in third place. Tim Campbell owns the Mid Missouri Chess Academy, an organization that he hopes will help Columbia youth rank nationally without having to travel to Kansas City or St. Louis.

Are they against KC or StL?
Here is the truth:
Kansas City or Saint Louis tournaments are 2.5 or 3 hours away from Columbia-MO.
If I were a parent or kid, I would do better without suffering the 5 or 6 hour round trip.
