Even though I saw the first move pretty quickly, I overlooked for a couple of minutes that Bg3 actually was mate. I was looking at lines that continued 3.Kf1 b6. I completely overlooked that Kf1 was not possible since the rook at f8 is uncovered and prevents it.
1…Qxc3 and if white plays 2.bxc3, then it is checkmate next move, black moves bishop to 2…Bg3# as the knight at d4 covers e2 and the rook, Rf8 covers the f1.
I stared at this for an awfully long time before the obvious popped out of it. Try 1…Q:c3, winning a rook. The queen can’t be recaptured with 2. b:c due to 2…Bg3 mate.
Susan!! u had me think this is MIDDLEGAME NOVELTIES!, u tricked me! oh well UM gunna wait on chessbase to explain this to me , Kasparov too, where yall get all that chocolate from? ” a couple of geniueses” judge judy!Susan i dont even study chess anymore UM watchin tv. In real life. hehe.
1. …..Qc3
2. bc3 Bg3#

1. Qxc3! bxc3
2. Bg3#
At first I wanted to play Bxd2+ and then Nf3 with the cute fork but of course f3 is doubly guarded. Bg3+ forces Rxg3 making the solution easy.
Qxc3 followed by Bg3
If not because of the white rook, then making use of Bxd2 and Rf1+ wins the queen.
However I can’t find the “trigger move”
Qxc3 looks nice. Because of the threat Bg3# decisive material loss should be inevitable for white.
1…Qxc3!
2. bxh7+ Kh8!
should do the trick because black has the threat of Bg3#
1…Qxc3
Queen takes rook and bishop to g3 looks rather efficient to me…
Qxc3, followed by Bg3#
Q x R, then there’s no defense for …Bg3
QxC3 should do it, I think
When Black takes the Queen it is mate
h1N,
Yeah, the rook is important to the defense for white, but you are just not thinking big enough.
Maybe I’m blind, maybe I’m insane, but as long as I see Bg3 is check mate
Qxc3. bxc3 leads to Bg3#
1.. Qxc3 (threat 2.. Bg3#)
0-1
QxR
Qxc3 and Bg3 mates.
1 … Bf4-g3+ would be mate if it weren’t for the White c3-rook PROTECTING the g3-square.
So REMOVE THE GUARD with
1 … Qa5xRc3!
2 b2xQc3 Bf4-g3#
If White does not wish to be mated, then he simply cannot recapture on c3, losing a rook.
Bg3+
1. … Qxc3 wins the rook for nothing because of 2. bxc3? Bg3#
1. … , Bg4
2. Ngf3, Bg3+
3. Kf1, Qb5+
(0-1)
1.Qxc3
Qxc3 and Bg3 mate
Sorry..Bg3 is a mistake..Qxc3 followed by Bg3+
Wow… it just gets worse and worse for White the more I look.
I stared at this for an awfully long time before the obvious popped out of it. Try 1…Q:c3, winning a rook. The queen can’t be recaptured with 2. b:c due to 2…Bg3 mate.
1….Qxc3! 2.bxc3 Bg3 mate !

maybe too obvious 1. Qxc3
2 variations:
1. … resigns
1. … bxc3
2. Bg3#
greets, jan
1. … Qc3:
2. bc3: Bg3++
1.Qxc3 bxc3
2.Bg3#
1… N(g)f3
2.Bg3+ Kf1
3.Qd3+ Qe2
4.Qxe2#
and so on
correction (typo)
1.Qxc3 N(g)f3
2.Bg3+ Kf1
3.Qd3 and mate soon follows
and so on
Queen takes rook. If PxQ, then Bg3 is mate.
Queen takes rook. If PxQ, than Bg3 is mate.
Bg3+ looks great if the Rook is not on c3; therefore, how about 1. Qxc3. Phil
1…Qxc3!! wins bec of the threat of Bg3#
1…QxR 2…Bg3+
queen takes rook!!
…Q x R.
if white recaptures, then
…Bg3 is mate.
1. Qxc3!!
Threat is mate on Bg3.
Well, I’m coming to this problem after a long day. But this is too easy….
1. … Qxc3
2. bxc3 Bg3#
White can temporize with 2. Bxh7+, but then Black simply plays his King to the corner, 2… Kh8, avoiding
2… Kxh7 3. Qb1+
Lucymarie
1…Qc3
a)
2.bxc3 Bg3#
b)
2.Qb1 Qxd2#
c)
2.Nf3 Qe3+
3.Kf1 Bg3
a rook up and mate follows…
d)
2.Ne2 Bg3+
3.Nxg6 Qxg3#
e)
2.Bxh7+ Kh8
interesting continuation:
if black replies
2…Kxh7
3.Qb1+ Bf4!?
