Area players top chess tourney

CHEBOYGAN – Cheboygan students won two of the three school-age divisions of the Cheboygan Invitational Chess Tournamant that took place last weekend.
The tournament, the largest annual challenge in Northern Michigan, drew 50 participants to Cheboygan Area High School, said Chess Coach Jess Miller…
The Cheboygan chess tournament is the primary fund-raiser for the Cheboygan Area High School chess team, Miller said. The money will be used to send the team to the State tournament at Kettering University in Flint, Mich., on Feb. 24.
