Changes in Global Chess
Mr. Bessel Kok has resigned from his position in Global Chess. Mr. Kaplan will replace him as he is now also shareholder at this company. Global Chess is responsible for FIDE Grand Prix, FIDE website, and other marketing activities.
This has been posted on chessdom.com. This website also has other recent chess news.
Ilyumzhinov can fund whatever he wants. It’s his money and it’s his federation.
till, using his money to favor one bidder over another hardly seems right. Why have a bidding process at all, then? If I were on the bulgarian side, I’d be frustrated.
That’s assuming, of course, that this latest ‘information’ is confirmed, wich can still be viewed as doubtfull, considering that the source is Yuri Vasilyev.
IMO the bulgarians elected Kirsan. Now they can sleep in the bed they made!! They should have known he was famous for “not sticking to the agreement”. I DID
Here is what Kirsan supposingly said:
“YV: And financial problems are solved?
KI: I give my personal guarantees. The prize-winning fund will be such what has been specified in the application of the manager of the grandmaster Gata Kamski Alexander Chernenko: 935 000 dollars…”
This doesn’t necesarilly means that he will give his own money. This only means that in case Chernenko couldn’t scrap up the money THEN he will have to pay from his own pocket.
