How do you comfort a youth chess player who just doesn’t have the talent to win many games, but you still want him/her to continue playing chess because it is good for his/her education ?
I say put him on ICC and have him play the TrainingBot or get him a good software program that has lots of problems for him to solve. when he gets the right answer he will begin to play much better.
Works for me.
On ICC you can go to the Seek Ads. You will find the TrainingBot as a red square with a hole in center. Just to the right of a vertical line. click on the square and it will play you all day and night. It keeps track of your wins etc. Fun way to learn.
Your son can get a free 2 week membership and youth is 1/2 price anyway. He might enjoy watching the big boys play tournaments also. Lots of fun online.
There are free online servers but I am not acquainted with them. someone else can get you info on them.
And what was the result?
24-0. She was awesome.

have him/her set some reasonable, achievable goals for his/her talent level.
Not everyone needs to be an expert.
Take a long term view.
good luck
Is that a lost rook endgame on the board, Susan!?!?!
You had to schwindle him in the endgame to win? 😉
