Paul Hoffman just came out with a new book with the title: King’s Gambit, A Son, A Father, and the World’s Most Dangerous Game. I just received a copy of it from Paul’s publisher. I did not have a chance to read it yet. However, ChessBase discusses the book here.
Chess Daily News from Susan Polgar
I read bits and pieces on chessbase but I don’t honestly get the point of this book. Has anyone else read it?
I just bought it yesterday. I have read the first 15 pages and it is fantastic. If the rest of the book is as good as the first few pages every chess fan will want to read it. The writer had written articles on the Chessbase website. He has also written other books, he is a very good writer, people who aren’t chess players might even enjoy this one.
You, and especially Paul, don’t come across very well.
I’m about halfway through it, and I’m enjoying it very much. Paul is a good story teller and has excellent writerly control of his material, which enables him to cobble together a vast assortment of anecdotes into big narratives that work. A fun read.
Disclosure: Hoffman was my boss many years ago.
Come across what?
