Congratulatins!
doubtless Kasparov was being kind. Does not want to whitewash Karpov now, does he?
Game 4 to Kasparov again. 3:1
Solid game by Karpow. It wasn’t that easy to withstand all what was thrown at him by black and keep cool.
Nice commemorative match, but Karpov is clearly past his prime and Kasparov is close to his prime and possibly would still be a top 5 player if he unretired tomorrow. So this settles nothing historically. Karpov can get annihilated and it does not change the fact that in his prime he was Kasparov’s equal.
It’s been great to see the two greatest players in history playing again. Congrats to both!
He is now Kasparov’s equal. Timman was better.
This is sooo great !!! Hope they do it many more times !!!
Congratulations to Anatoly, the game is beautiful.
Timman is the best coffehouse player of the top 5 during the eighties. When it came to calculations he lost to players like Yusupow, let alone his poor record against Karpow and king Kasparow.
Karpow was great in 1984 (first match) and 10 yrs later at Linares 1994, but apart from that performance he played second fiddle to Kasparow. Yes, he was the second best for long, but not quite his equal.
