Canton-Galva Chess Club places first

The Canton-Galva High School Chess Club captured first place in the Kansas Scholastic Chess Association Tournament recently at McPherson.
Canton-Galva was represented by junior Amos Schikowsky, sophomores Doug Coyle and Ben Scriven and freshmen Levi Lawless, Sean Bocks and James Pollman.
In the individual standings Schikowsky tied for fourth with 5 points; Coyle, Scriven, and Lawless tied for seventh with 4 points; and Bocks and Pollman tied for 16th with 3 points. Sixteen teams competed in the high school division.
The Canton-Galva Middle School Chess Club placed fifth among 21 schools.
