I have to give a lot of credit to both Judit and Leinier. They fought and fought and fought all the way until the very end. The match was back and forth and there was only one draw (game 7) in 8 games!
I am very proud of Judit’s performance so far. I am sad that she will not be able to join me in St. Louis. Her next opponent will be super GM Svidler.
I am also very happy to have a tough fighter like Leinier in the upcoming SPICE Cup!

Nice.
bravo judit xcellent aggressive fightin spirit well played u truly deserve to b a world champion
That’s the spirit! Win with grace, lose with dignity!
(Also, a fond farewell to my Danish compatriot Peter Heine Nielsen. He managed to beat Adams in the second round and bounce back twice against Gashimov in the fourth round.)
Wish Judit go to the final. Good luck!
I have no words.
Guys, here Judit is writing a bit of chess history (hopefully).
Best regards
Stef
The one and only real chess Queen: Judith!
Judit’s game are extremely entertaining for the chess fan. Bravo.
judit for World Champion!!!!
Agreed with BB, very nicely said, Susan.
This was gripping to watch; I happened to be up at 5am this morning anyway in time for the rapid games, before getting my kids ready for school with my wife on a camping trip. Yesterday I watched the R+B vs. R endgame right up to my 11am lecture, then told the class I’d been “held hostage” by the drama. :-).
Why on earth did she play the centre counter twice, all it does is loses black a tempo.
Apart from that, I really enjoyed her win and hope she goes all the way.
Humm… Svidler is a tough one and seems to be in good shape!
Well done Judit.
I did notice that, because the players were tired, mistakes were made which led to unusual material imbalances and Judit seemed to intuitively deal with these positions better.
It’s nice to see Judit back in top form.
go ahead Judit, we love you…
I’m so happy. Judith is demonstrating his remarkable talent.I am one of her biggest fans. I want to play chess…play chess!!!
Judith keeps on playing with energy. She is changing the history of the game forever. I love her.
