The 7th International Chess Festival of Dieppe was held from August 28th to September 3rd, 2011, over nine rounds of Swiss tournament format. Top 18 boards of the Open were played at the casino tables, while the remaining games took place in the congress hall facing the sea.
212 players, an increase from last year’s 186, took part in one of the three Open Groups. Open A was reserved for players rated above 1700 elo and had 88 participants. The prize fund amounted to € 5,000 with € 1,000 for the first place.
GM Andrei Istratescu won the main event of the 7th International Chess Festival Dieppe by edging IM Fabien Guilleux on better tie-break. Both players gathered 7 points.
WGM Nino Maisuradze (2329) was the top placed woman with 6 points, while WGM Tanya Kostiuk (2278) comes second with 5.5/9.
