Kramnik drew early. Magnus has a very difficult position against Caruana. And Shirov has a COMPLETELY winning position against Dominguez. But….they agreed to a draw.

If Shirov continues with 31.b4 Qc7 32.Qa8+ Bf8 33.Rf1, the Corus title would be his, at least a share of it if Carlsen can hold. The only reason I can think of is Shirov did not find this continuation during time pressure.

Yes, inexplicable it is.
By the ways, there is a buggy bug in the softwares you use to publish and view games. Go last three moves manually and you will see yourself! It can be used as a new rule in some buggy chess version!!
Shirov had only two seconds left on the clock when he accepted the draw.
On move 24 he had 59 seconds.
A draw seems better than a loss on time.
Shirov had the win but did not have the resources (time) to bring it in.
Deja vu.
What is inexplicable is that he was offered the draw – he would have lost on time.
I don’t think Bg7 was played?!

There is a 30 seconds increment after every move. Therefore he would NOT lose on time.
how can Qa8 be check if a bishop is on c8
According to the official website http://coruschess.com/openlive.php, Bg7 was played.
Best wishes,

would have been a fitting end to Shirov’s fighting contribution …
… but does he not still come 2nd to Carlsen on tie-break?
Correct: 30″ given per move – he could have done this.
Shirov is big patzer.
if dominguez offered a draw with 2 seconds left on shirov’s clock — that’s gamesmanship.
dominguez had nothing substantial to win, shirov had a lot to lose.
given the same situation i’d do the same. i’d feel cheaper than hell to snatch a win under such circumstances. (i’m not going to lie — if we were tied for first (or any) place, i’d probably take the win. would not like it, but would take it)
huge gesture from dominguez. huge. admirable. hats off.
Yeah time pressure was the reason he missed the win. A great shame after he brilliant start. Never the less he has shown he still one of the best players in the world today !
admirable gesture from Dominguez….
wonder why this is not highlighted in the press coverage….

‘admirable gesture from Dominguez….’
What gesture did he do, I didn’t follow closely?
Is explicable, Shirov don’t have time, he have only 12 secons!! and Domingez ofrer draw and Shirov acept
