It’s been almost a month since the sudden and shocking passing of IM Emory Tate in the last Championship at Bay Area Chess Center.
The organizers have immediately started the process with USCF of re-naming the upcoming tournament to dedicate it to his memory.
In Memory of IM Emory Tate Championship will take place 13-15th November at the Bay Area Chess Center, as part of the usual recurring BAC Named Championship series.
The tournament format is three sections to be completed over 5 rounds of Swiss system with the time control G/90 +30.
The total prize fund is 5000 USD based on 94 paid entries, with 70% guaranteed.
Open (2000+, FIDE rated): $ 1,000 500 200 – u2300: $ 250 125 100
AB (1600-1999): $ 700 300 100 – u1800: $ 200 100
CDE (U1600): $ 700 300 100 – u1400: $ 125 100 – u1200: $ 100
Top rated players are GMs Oliver Barbosa, Ioan Chirila, Enrico Sevillano and IM Ricardo De Guzman.
