Thank you for the Chess960 demonstration. It is only confusing because we are still the generation of players that are habitually familiar with traditional chess. Once we get familiar with Chess960 it becomes very enjoyable. Try it! http://chess960jungle.blogspot.com/
Funny stuff. This guy is a lot of fun to listen to. |Oh yeah..I guess I should have taken his queen”WAS PROBABLY THE FUNNIEST LINE…BUT IT WAS EVEN FUNNIER THAT HE WON WITH NO TIME..HAHA.
That was a really cool game. I seem to be playing more and more Chess 960 these days, I may even stop playing regular chess! You have to think from move 1, I find it harder and more rewarding than regular chess. Computers and memorizing long opening lines won’t help here, the better player wins, simple! When I first started playing 960 I lost a few games just from confusion, lol. I Know the Sveshnikov and King’s Indian inside out and all that study was worthless. I you haven’t tried it, I would suggest you do, this game requires talent to win, not being good with a computer and memorizing book moves!
Fischer was attempting to place much less emphasis on learnt openings and pre-established positions. “Chess Dungeon” (invented by Thomas P.W. James) takes this principle to the philosophical extreme! The players determine:
1. The number of players! 2. The size the game! 3. The shape of the “board”! 4. The Chess pieces which may be played!
Fischer random is confusing.
