Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!
I am finally back to the U.S. after spending the last 2 weeks in Dresden, Germany for the 38th Chess Olympiad. I will write more later about my experience working with the Dresden Olympiad organizer to put on the best Olympiad possible.
I have been to many Olympiads but I had no idea how much work it took to put on a spectacle this size. Nothing is ever perfect but all I can say is hundreds of people gave everything they had until the last second to put on a successful Olympiad. Some of them were involved in this process back in 2003!
As for me, I started each day in Dresden from around 7-8 am and my work did not end until well after 1 am (sometimes even later) the next day, including off days during the Olympiad. More to come later….
Turkey day!
