Wow, Pal is 78 and looking good. Bobby Fischer was born 15 years after him, yet looks like hell. Go figure.
Does he still play chess? I mean unofficially.
The difference between Fischer and Benko is not their age but that he still has his marbles= sane. Most chess player let chess consume them and they pay the price to neurotic/madness. Morphy, Stinitz, Fischer and Rubinstein to name a few.
Many of the players whose names are attached to openings are dead. Yet here you are posed with Mr. Benko Gambit.
I wonder how many others are still alive, whose names we use (Shveshnikov is still around?)
He does look like he did 200 years ago.
I think he shaved a mustasche for teh occation!
Where are his teeth?? Kidding. Is he back living in Hungary? Must be a good place to live when I retire?
You know if not for GM Pal Benko, who gave his Intezonal slot to Bobby Fischer, Fischer would not have become World Champion.
